Key specifications.
- Maximum depth
- ≥ 1,300 m
- Modes
- Glide and vertical profile
- Average glide speed
- ≥ 0.5 kn
- Battery
- Primary lithium, ≥ 500 Ah
- Endurance
- ≥ 120 days (CTD only, profile glide)
- Deployment

Tasks to assess
- Physical oceanography surveys of temperature and salinity profiles
- Ecological observation networks over wide areas
- Long-duration monitoring where ships are costly to keep on station
Configuration checks
- Select the sensor payload and confirm its effect on endurance.
- Plan transport of primary lithium batteries; dangerous-goods rules apply.
- Agree launch, recovery, communication and data-processing arrangements.
COMPLETE SYSTEM
Specify more than
the vehicle.
The manufacturer describes a low-drag, low-noise, low-power design built from six modular units, supporting different sensors and power modules. This site presents the glider for civil ocean observation only.
Confirm in the delivered scope
- Glider, batteries and selected sensors
- Communication, mission planning and data software
- Launch and recovery equipment
- Spares, battery shipping arrangements and training
Standard, optional and custom items must be listed separately in the quotation.
QUESTIONS
Before you specify the GL-1300.
How long can it stay at sea?
With only the CTD running in profile-glide mode, the catalogue lists at least 120 days per deployment. Additional sensors reduce endurance.
How is it powered and shipped?
It uses primary (non-rechargeable) lithium batteries of at least 500 Ah. These are dangerous goods for transport, so shipping is planned per project.
PROCUREMENT
Prepare the next review.
Agree the site conditions, acceptance test, delivery scope and support responsibilities. Product names and rated figures alone are not a project specification.
